Become a tutor

We recruit experienced university students and match them with students they are genuinely right for.

Tutivate recruits experienced university-student tutors directly through university networks and reviews each tutor before they can be introduced to families. We record subject strengths, exam-board experience, availability and teaching style, so matches are made on detail rather than on a first-come basis.

What we look for

  • Current university student or recent graduate with strong subject knowledge
  • Experience teaching, mentoring or tutoring at the stage you apply for
  • Reliable internet and a quiet space for online lessons
  • Willingness to tell us how you teach, so we can match you accurately
  • Right to work in the UK and willingness to complete the checks Tutivate introduces

The application process

  • Apply

Send us your subjects, exam boards, levels and availability.

  • Review

Tutivate reviews your application, subjects and availability.

  • Teaching style

We record how you teach so matching is done on detail.

  • Onboarding

We confirm the practical arrangements, then propose your first matched student.

  • Tutor questions

Do I need formal teaching experience?

No, but you do need real experience helping students at the level you apply for, and you need to be able to explain how you teach.

    How are lessons paid?

Your rate and the payment schedule are agreed in writing with you before your first paid lesson. We go through this during the application process.

How much work will I get?

It depends on your subjects, boards and availability. We match rather than queue, so we will be honest about demand in your area of strength.

    What checks are required?

Tutivate reviews every applicant before they can be introduced to a family. Our formal screening and safeguarding policy is in preparation, and we will tell you exactly what is required before you are matched with any student.
