How it works

Four steps, and nothing paid for until the fit is proven

Most agencies match on availability. We gather the detail first, shortlist against it, have a person approve the recommendation, and prove the fit with a free trial lesson.

  • Free consultation
  • Human-reviewed match
  • Free compatibility trial

The process

  • Book a free consultation

A short conversation about the student, the goals and the timeline. No obligation.

  • We review the requirements

Subject, exam board, target school or university, availability and learning preferences are recorded.

  • We recommend a tutor

Every recommendation is reviewed and approved by a person before it reaches you.

  • Free compatibility trial

A short trial lesson, attended silently by Tutivate where appropriate, so you can judge the fit.

  • You confirm, lessons begin

Paid lessons start once you are happy with the match. Progress is reviewed as you go.

  • What we match on

These are the factors recorded at the consultation and scored against our tutor network.

    Subject or service

The specific paper, specification or admissions test.

    Exam board

AQA, Edexcel, OCR, WJEC and IB where relevant.

    School or university relevance

Tutors who know the target school or course.

    Teaching and learning fit

Pace, structure and the style the student responds to.

    Availability

Real overlap in the week, not best intentions.

    Tutor experience

Track record with the same stage and goal.

What the first month usually looks like

The detail differs by subject, but the shape of a good start rarely does.

    1. Week 1

      Diagnostic

The tutor finds where marks are actually being lost rather than assuming.

    2. Week 2

      Repair

The highest-value gaps are retaught, with short practice between lessons.

    3. Week 3

      Technique

Exam technique, timing and mark-scheme language on the student's own board.

    4. Week 4

      Review

Timed practice, a written progress note for parents and a plan for the next block.

    Questions about the process

    Is the consultation really free?

Yes. It is a short call about the student's stage, goals and timetable. No card details and no obligation.

    What is a compatibility trial?

A short trial lesson with the recommended tutor, at no cost. Where appropriate a member of the Tutivate team attends so we can judge the fit ourselves.

What if the tutor is not right?

We rematch. That is the point of trialling before you pay, and we would rather know early.

    How involved are parents?

You receive a written progress note at regular intervals and may sit in on any lesson at any time.

Tell us about the student. We will find the right tutor.

A free consultation, a reviewed match and a free compatibility trial before anything is paid for.
