About your free consultation

Every family starts with the same short conversation. It is free, there is no obligation, and its only purpose is to work out whether Tutivate can genuinely help - and if so, which tutor is right.

Online appointments available by arrangement, primarily during weekday evenings and at weekends. UK-wide, online only.

What happens, step by step

  1. 1. You send a short request

Six quick questions about the stage, the subject and when lessons could happen. It takes about two minutes and there is nothing to pay.

  2. 2. We arrange a time

We email you to confirm a 15-20 minute Google Meet, in UK time, around the availability you gave us. Evenings and weekends are usually possible.

  3. 3. A few questions beforehand

Once the time is arranged we send a private link to a short questionnaire about the student. It takes about five minutes, and most of it is optional. It means the call is spent on the student rather than on basics.

  4. 4. The consultation itself

We talk through where the student is now, what is getting in the way, and what a realistic plan looks like. We will tell you honestly if we do not think tutoring is the right answer.

  5. 5. A written follow-up

Afterwards we email you a summary of what we discussed and what we suggest, so you have something to think about and to share with the rest of the family.

  6. 6. A tutor recommendation

If it makes sense to go ahead, we recommend a tutor and explain why we chose them. Every recommendation is reviewed by a person before you see it. You then have a free compatibility trial before anything is confirmed.

How to prepare

Recent work

A recent report, mock result or piece of marked work is useful, but nothing formal is needed.

What you want to change

One or two sentences on what would make the biggest difference is often the most valuable thing you can bring.

Practical constraints

Days and times that realistically work, and when you would like to start.

The questionnaire we send beforehand

After the time is arranged we email a private link to a short set of questions: the student's school year, how things are going, what is getting in the way, how they like to learn, and when lessons could happen. It takes about five minutes.

  • The link is unique to you, expires, and can be replaced if you lose it.
  • We ask for the student's first name only.
  • You can save your answers and come back to finish them.
  • Only Tutivate administrators can read what you send.

Common questions

How long does it take?

Between 15 and 20 minutes. We would rather keep it short and useful than turn it into a sales call.

Who needs to attend?

A parent or guardian. The student is very welcome to join, particularly for A-Level, UCAT and admissions support, but there is no need.

Is it really free?

Yes. The consultation is free, the compatibility trial that follows a match is free, and there is no obligation to continue at any point.

Will I be pushed to sign up?

No. If we do not think we can help, or if the timing is wrong, we will say so. Founding lessons start from £25 per hour and we are clear about pricing before anything begins.

What if I do not know what the student needs yet?

That is a perfectly good reason to book. Working out the right starting point is part of what the consultation is for.

Do I have to complete the questionnaire?

No, but it helps. If you would rather talk everything through on the call instead, just reply to our email and say so.

How is what I share looked after?

The questionnaire link is private to you, expires, and can only be opened by someone who has it. Answers are visible to Tutivate administrators only and are used to prepare for the consultation and to recommend a tutor. We ask for a first name only.

What happens if I need to rearrange?

Reply to the confirmation email and we will find another time. There is no charge and no penalty.

Ready when you are

Six short questions, then we will be in touch to arrange a time.
